I was delighted to be invited to WellFest Ireland’s Festival in 2019 at the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham. I was presenting in the WellMind Tent and I recognised some pretty impressive speakers on the line-up. I was quite nervous as it was the first time I had presented to an audience so big and I just didn’t know what to expect. Having some friends and family around and offering myself a little Self-Compassion Break practice helped a lot! I offered an introductory session about Mindfulness, the Breath and Autopilot, which seemed to go down really well with the audience. I got everyone to move their body at the end and have a little shake before they moved onto the next session. I got to hang out and listen to other speakers between sessions too which was great, I love learning new stuff from others! I also offered a session of Mindful Self-Compassion based on the work of Dr Chris Germer and Dr Kristin Neff, who I had trained with in 2016 in Ireland and the UK. It felt really good to practice Loving Kindness with such a large group of people, by offering ourselves and others well wishes. It was powerful stuff! Learning to incline the minds a little more towards kindness and friendliness towards ourselves and others.
